A riad is the traditional architectural style of Morocco, and Dar Les Cigognes is an example of the Andalucian-Moorish style. Morocco's most famous architect, Charles Boccara, led the renovation that lasted 4 years using only traditional materials and techniques. With its privileged position facing the gates of the Royal Palace, Dar Les Cigognes was once the home of a wealthy spice merchant and dates back to the 1600's.

The hotel has a restaurant offering a daily-changing menu of modern interpretations of classic Moroccan dishes. There are daily cooking classes. Dar Les Cigognes is comprised of two adjoining riads with large central courtyards centred around trees and fountains, offering 11 rooms and suites. Dar Les Cigognes is situated in the heart of the medina. The main places of interest are just a minutes walk from the riad, Saadian Tombs, Badii Palace, Bahia Palace, making Dar Les Cigognes an excellent base from which to discover Marrakech. The famous Jemaa El Fna square is just a 10 minute walk from the riad. The airport and the train station are a 10 minute drive from Dar Les Cigognes.
